Maggi !! Maggi !!! Maggi !!!! π
Fast to cook, good to eat π runs the tagline of this Nestle product π Despite the pros and cons of this ‘not so 2 minute’ noodle, it has reigned over the heart and stomach of generation of Indians π
Maggi rarely falls into ‘leftover’ category π but, what if………….
What do you do with the leftover cooked maggi ??Once it goes cold, it gives an unappetizing look Still the mom in me do not like to throw away food.
Necessity is the mother of invention π hence, i developed a few tricks like millions of other moms π
I have confessed before…….I follow my sense of foodie aroma and tastes and they have always resulted into excellent concoctions π
Simple leftover cooked maggi of last night, turned into a lip -smacking zingy sandwich…….and surprise π my kid did not even realize while gobbling them down, that this was the same maggi she had rejected earlier π Sneaky mom π
Here’s what i did……
This will yield 8 -9 sandwiches
INGREDIENTS
For the filling –
1 cup – leftover cooked maggi
1 tsp – chopped fresh coriander/cilantro
1 pickled egg – Β mashed
1 tbsp – shredded chicken (optional)
1 tbsp – finely chopped onion
1 tsp – grated carrot (optional)
1 1/4 tbsp – mayonnaise
pinch of black pepper powder
salt to taste
Mix all the ingredients together.
METHOD
Adding the zing –
mustard sauce ( i used Funfoods American Mustard sauce)
pickled red cabbage and carrots
Note : Since i love pickling , i have several varieties of them. One may add their own zing according to their taste.
To assemble –
Apply a generous coat of the filling on a slice of bread. Top it with pickled cabbage and carrots and a good squeeze of mustard sauce. Cover with another bread slice.
Brush the bread slices with oil( optional). Grill them till nicely golden and crispy.
Serve hot with tomato and mustard sauce.
P.S. I served fresh raw almonds by the side π
Happy sneaking……oops, i mean cooking !!! π
Cheers !!! π
