Green papaya comes with innumerable health benefits. I have always consumed it, cooked. I have heard a lot about raw papaya salad, Som Tum of Thailand. Traditionally, dried shrimp or salted crab is used in this salad. I had neither in the pantry, so settled for a vegetarian version. The outcome was a fragrant, gently spicy and tangy with a hint of sweetness.
Taste was lip -smacking. The tangy lime, the crunch of papaya juliennes and roasted peanuts tickles the taste -buds !!
Here’s what I did………….
INGREDIENTS
1 cup – julienned raw papaya
1 tbsp – lime juice
1 tbsp – finely chopped red apache chilies
1 tbsp – roasted peanuts
1 tbsp – chili sauce
1/2 tsp – sugar
1 tsp – chopped coriander
METHOD
Assemble the salad by gently tossing all the ingredients together. Adjust the lime juice and chili sauce as per taste.
Refrigerate and serve chilled.
Happy cooking………..errr munching !! 😉
Cheers !!
